1911-D Quarter Eagle,
PCGS MS-62. This is a pleasing example of the scarcest coin, by far, in
the popular, short-lived Indian Head quarter eagle series. This example
has original, coppery-gold toning, and the "D" mintmark is
strong. It's yours for $4,650. SOLD.

Note:
Only one MS-62 1911-D quarter eagle graded by PCGS (a different coin from this
example) was sold at a major auction last year, specifically, Stack's
September 2000 sale, Lot 1504. The price, including buyer's fee, was
$4,600. The next step up is large: the August 2001 Coin
Dealer Newsletter lists an "ask" price of $9,400 for this coin
in MS-63.
