1918 $5 FRBN
"Collecting coins for pleasure and profit"

1918 $5 Federal Reserve Bank Note, CGA Gem Unc.-65, Serial # D161A.  From the Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland, with Teehee-Burke signatures.  Excellent quality, with the vivid blue serial numbers and Treasury Seal adding to the aesthetic appeal.  The low serial number contributes further appeal.  The back design of this note features the vignettes of Columbus in sight of land, and, at right, the landing of the Pilgrims, two scenes that embody the beginnings of European influence on the Western Hemisphere and a greater understanding of world geography.  From the Harry W. Bass, Jr. collection, lot #182; earlier from the Robert F. Schermerhorn collection.     Price: $1,600.  (SOLD)
