Be
the first in your coin club to own the beautiful new book entitled CARAMOOR,
by Starr Shippee and Varner Redmon. This wonderfully illustrated,
full color, 100-page, soft-cover volume was published in 2001 by The
Caramoor Garden Guild, under the auspices of the
Caramoor Center for Music
and the Arts, located in Katonah, NY.
WHY, you might well ask yourself, should I buy this book?? Well,
because the book is about building a collection (admittedly of art
and furniture and even complete Italian rooms, not coins). And,
because the owners of this collection had to wrestle with the question of
how to display their treasures (ultimately deciding against PCGS slabs, in
favor of building a huge estate in northeastern Westchester, NY). But,
most importantly, because my wife co-authored this book, with her friend,
Varner Redmon, and because I helped with the proofreading, so there
probably aren't too many goofs.
PRICE: $20.00, including postage, or $25.00 with an author's signature.

Lucie
Bigelow Rosen, the inspiration behind the Caramoor estate in Katonah,
NY.
Born in 1890, Lucie undoubtedly held many
Indian cents and Barber-designed silver coins, and possibly even the 1911-D
Quarter Eagle or the 1909-O Half
Eagle pictured elsewhere on this site...
